Rubina Ali, one of the child stars of the movie Slumdog Millionaire has nothing left but the ruins of her home two days ago which was rumbled down for a second time in the last seven months for making way for a new railway. She along with her family will have to sleep in the open in the slums of Mumbai, India.
She rushed inside her house to get her cherished blue dress that she wore for the Oscars ceremony in Hollywood when a demolition team moved in earlier this year.
Rafiq Qureshi, Rubina’s dad was severely beaten up by police with bamboo sticks when he tried to question them. He confronted the supervising officials who were trying to clear the land and was admitted to hospital for treatment after receiving some blows.
Rubina’s child co-star Azharuddin Mohammed Ismail’s home was also torned down six days before she saw her home demolished.
Rubina who was seen on the night of Oscars with the boy and Danny Boyle, Slumdog director, cried: “Where are we going to live from now on? Why are they doing this to us?”
