The captain of the F/V Cornelia Marie on “Deadliest Catch“, Phil Harris, underwent an emergency surgery of twelve hours and was placed in a coma that was induced medically last night.
Harris was admitted to the emergency section of the hospital on Friday after he suffered a stroke. According to a close family source, Harris was put in a coma by the doctors to decrease the swelling of brain post-surgery.
Doctors will be consulted today by Josh and Jake, sons of Harris and deckhands on the F/V Cornelia Marie.
Harris was hit by the stroke when he was off-loading his boat and he was airlifted to an Anchorage hospital nearby without any delay. Harris is taking rest quite comfortably and is under the care of quality doctors and nurses,” says a Discovery rep there.
